The annual amount of geotextiles in Europe in recent years is also around 400 million m2, of which spunbonded nonwovens account for about 60% of non-woven geotextiles; Japan was in the mid-1990s. Later there has been a significant increase in the application of geotextiles. Japan's non-woven geotextiles use the largest amount of spunbond, accounting for about 60% of the total non-woven geotextile, and mainly PET spunbond.
Geotextiles in China started in the early 1980s, but at that time, the amount was very small, but it was only experimental application. Until the 1998 floods caused the government's attention, the construction department put the application of geotextiles into the design specification, and formulated the relevant national standards. The geotextile was really valued and developed. At present, the amount of geotextile used in China has exceeded 300 million m2, and the proportion of non-woven geotextiles has reached 40%. China's civil engineering construction has a huge potential market, and its potential is never lower than the current U.S. consumption of 7 to 800 million m2. Experts estimate that China's geotextile fabrics will continue to grow in double digits in the next 15 years, of which PET spinning spunbonded filament geotextiles will grow faster.
During the period of the “10th Five-Year Plan” and the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, China’s planned investment in various projects such as water conservancy, electric power, transportation, environmental protection, and river governance, including water conservancy construction, South-to-North Water Diversion Project, power investment, roads and railways Construction and environmental engineering construction, as well as ports, airports, garbage disposal, rivers, lakes and seas, governance, sand control, and other projects, the investment amounted to trillions of yuan. In the next 10 years or more, China will have more infrastructure projects to build and the demand for geotextiles will increase. China will become the largest market for geosynthetics in the world.
Domestic PET spunbonded nonwovens production capacity
At present, China has about 9 PET spunbond production lines, with a total production capacity of about 31,000 t/a, including Yizheng Nonwovens Factory, Hunan Nonwovens Factory, Henan Sanli Company, Shanghai Jiasimaiwei Company, and Jiangxi Guoqiao. The company is a production line for the introduction of Italy or West Germany, Shaoxing Lida, Xinjiang Tianli, Zichuan non-woven fabrics, Dalian Hengda, Zhejiang Yongguang non-woven fabrics and other domestic production lines, the minimum width of 2.4m, the maximum width of 6m . The maximum production capacity of these production lines is 4500 t/a and the minimum production capacity is 1000 t/a. The 4.5m-width PET spunbond geotextile and felt base fabric dual-purpose production line designed and manufactured by the Textile Industry Nonwovens Technology Development Center in Xinjiang Tianli Co., Ltd. is a device with large domestic production capacity and best product quality. The production capacity reaches 3500 t/a.
At present, the major products produced by these production lines include geotextiles, engineering impervious materials, building waterproofing materials, composite reinforcements, automotive fabrics, cushioning materials, and footwear chemical sheets. Its prospects are very impressive.
